This is the first direct injection automotive diesel - Fiat Croma 1.9 TD with supercharging.

This engine presents a CAV type mechanical injection system, with double injection pressure injector with double contrast spring for a pilot injection and a main injection, in order to reduce pressure peaks and noise to levels compatible with automotive use.
